The project creates and defines spaces by the undulations of one thick roof. By reaching out or merging into the surrounding landscape the roof defines outdoor and semi-outdoor spaces. On top is an artificial landscape which is formed and designed as an extreme sports tool. In the otherwise open floor plan the central quad is the representational space designed as an event arena.

Looking at the advanced technologies and the design sensibility in high tech boat building, the summer 2008 was about a boat factory on the sea in croatia. The goal was to creat an intricate system of long span industrial structure combined with the sophisticated design attitude of boatbuilders.

A goal of this research and free form fabrication in general is to replace expensive casting and formwork with new processes using both organic and inorganic templates that can be used to produce complex free-form surfaces and structures. This is not a platonic process as it is impossible to rely on phases or their sequential arrangement. A primary goal of this project is to develop a concept of a self-observing material and fabrication system which support other ongoing Xlab projects. Ideas evolving from here shall carry to the real world and be the framework for the development of new robotic fabrication enviroments and systems.
Getting familiar with existing production and material processes are the necessary fundation for furhter cutting edge research and development. Aknowledging the Now but also being critic about it is key for our big dream,... a architectural and spacial revolution.

Researching the current State of the Art in material processes and detailed machine logics including robotics were central to this inquiry. Choosing carbonfibers as materialfamily were the starting point for the exploration of advanced materials. Going straight forward right into the project we choosed to work in several scales and environments what allowed us to explore in a broad range. Using quick steps and fast response as a design strategy allowed us to generate a high amount of data which guided us into a fast and continous action-feedbackloop. Being interested in movable and intelligent 3d surfaces our investigations were focused in the transition inbetween Nano-, Micro and Macroscales. By moving inbetween those scales we discovered our main designprinciple: “geometry vs. behaviour”.
It became our translationtool inbetween the different scales what allowed us to make them communicate with each other.

This work focused on the design and fabrication of aggregated assemblies. Exploring organizations in which parts communicate with one another through an intelligence built-in through modularity and computation, allowing families of small parts to grow into larges assemblies. Like sandcastles on a beach, these organizations can crystallize into any number of forms and can dissolve again without any loss of information.

Free form fabrication (FFF) proposes a ramified approach to architectural design extending to the design of materials, material assemblies, construction procedures and logistics as well as software and hardware used to design, fabricate and construct an architectural proposition. A continuous process open to radical recombination via re-programming of process sequences, tools and practices. In this way authentic new developments in architecture are tied to the ongoing materials and manufacturing revolution.
By using robotics in a collabortive way together new material processes this projects tries to push the bounderies of the unknown. Rehological materials and Stäubli robots were the startingpoint for this to all sides open exploration. Seeing the robotic cell as a way of thinking it becomes the brain of a network of linked thoughts and researches.

The epitome of a Hypostyle Hall in my project is a field of massive and fragile columns that define a variation of spatial and volumetric interiors of the terminal. Denser areas of the field create intimate spaces and become areas to rest whereas less dens areas are circulation routes and contain architectural program.
Large enclosed spaces provided static spatial formations in the form of a performance hall. While progressing through, these programmatic shifts breakdown in scale into dynamic spaces, such as boutiques, restaurants, nightlife, commercial and event spaces, eventually blending into a landscape underneath the Highline Park. In general, these shifts in program occur through subtle changes in surface performance and yet flow as a coherent entity.</description>

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Diploma is about the interplay of vast opaque surfaces with poché and lightweight, fragile structure. The environments developed by these distinct architectural languages are exploited and distributed vertically to create extreme spatial sequences. The project is a casino resort akin to Las Vegas, located on a dramatic site between the Hoover Dam and the Bypass Bridge. The resort caters to various 21st century vices such as: entertainment (concert venues, MMA Fighting), gambling and luxury living.
